Management Team

Michael Bennett

Michael is Managing Director of Bennett Tarmacadam and an active director of Niall Barry & Co, Coolderry Plant, Dromalane Properties and Cleanfill. He has over 40 years of experience in sales, marketing and contracts management in the construction and engineering sectors. As a pioneer of Passive Home development in Ireland, he has raised the profile of Michael Bennett & Sons in adapting Sustainable Energy technologies to the Irish marketplace and sourcing previously imported building materials from local suppliers.

Niall Barry BE FIEI

Niall is Managing Director of Niall Barry & Co and an active director of Cleanfill. Graduating from UCC in 1987 with a degree in Civil Engineering, he has 25 years of site and design experience, both nationally and internationally, including such projects as the Channel Tunnel, Belview Port and the Kilcullen/Newbridge Motorway. Combining proven methods and new technologies, he drives the company's policy of continuous improvement and innovation with a particular focus on Roads and Services, Flood Alleviation and Urban Renewal.

Marie Cullen

Marie has over 20 years of experience in office administration, financial control, account management, procurement, outsourcing, human resources, tendering and operations. For suppliers and customers alike, she is a relentless driver of efficiency, goodwill and ethical business practices. She brings vital oversight to company operations allowing each of our business units to focus on the job in hand. She and her support staff coordinate all non-engineering activities and provide a continuous link between site and back office.

Jon Bennett

Jon has over 15 years of experience in the Surfacing and Plant business. He is responsible for the day-to-day running of Bennett Tarmacadam working between tendering, contracts management and logistics. His contracts mix includes Roads, Car Parks, Ameneties and Driveways. He has also developed ancillary services around a manned fleet of Road Sweepers and Surface Dressing Units which can be hired on a turnkey basis. Jon is also active in general plant hire, sales, service and procurement under the banner of Coolderry Plant.

Seamus Mullins

Seamus has 30 years of experience in costing and tracking challenging projects such as Wexford General Hospital, Dublin City University and major residential developments. In addition to his primary role as Quantity Surveyor, he manages planning applications and provides architectural design support. He is a qualified Building Energy Rating (BER) Assessor and Certified Passive House Consultant with the Passivhaus Institute, helping to keep Michael Bennett & Sons at the forefront of sustainable energy and passive home development.

Garry Earle Dip.Eng

Garry has been with Niall Barry & Co since he graduated from Carlow Institute of Technology in 1999. Working up from site engineer to contracts manager, he has overseen a number of public contracts including the Wexford Inner-Relief Road, St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, the upgrading of Main Street, Wexford and the pedestrianisation of Rafter Street, Enniscorthy. The latter two projects have received widespread plaudits for workmanship and helped to establish the credentials of Niall Barry & Co in the sensitive field of Urban Renewal.

Robert Bennett

Robert has over 35 years of sales and management experience in building materials and aggregates. He oversees the day-to-day operations of Cleanfill which was set up to manage disposal and recycling of inert excavated waste material. His remit is to ensure that the company's landfill sites and recycling facilities are fully compliant with the latest Waste Management legislation. One of his first tasks was to develop internal procedures and a resilient information system to track all waste disposal activity.

Paddy Kelly BEng

Paddy has over 6 years of experience working as a site engineer and site agent on a number of public and commercial civil engineering projects. His main focus has been on excavation and site development for Roads and Services contracts. Major projects already completed include Clonard Retail Park, Clonattin Village and Kish Business Park. Paddy graduated from Waterford Institute of Technology in 2005 with a B.Eng degree in Civil Engineering. He has been an employee of Niall Barry & Co since January 2006.

Tomás Bennett BEng

Tomás joined Niall Barry & Co as a site engineer not long after graduating from Carlow Institute of Technology in 2007 with a B.Eng degree in Civil Engineering. He has over 4 years of experience working on Roads and Services contracts in both the public and commercial sectors. On the Rosslare Relief Road, he was involved in the soil stabilisation process and drainage works. He also worked on the final details of Kish Business Park. On the Wexford Inner Relief Road, he was responsible for work details on muckshift, drainage and road reconstruction.

William Burke

William has over 40 years of experience in the building trade. A carpenter by profession, he has long since demonstrated the value of hands-on leadership and mentoring. He is a respected authority on all the latest construction techniques including Sustainable Energy technologies and Passive Home development. He has operated in the role of foreman and contracts manager on a long list of major Residential Developments and Building Contracts including hospitals, cinemas, credit unions, schools and county council buildings.
