DescriptionWexford County Council located their purpose-built Enniscorthy District Office on the Old Dublin Road as part of the local authority’s policy of "bringing it’s services closer to the people it serves". This development represented an investment of some €3m in the local economy. Designed by architect, Conor Finnegan, of McCarthy O’Hora Associates, the building is modern and forward-thinking, with much emphasis placed on the selection and provision of materials. The external treatment of the building is a mixture of glazed panels, stone cladding and special render finish. Other features include the use of under-floor central-heating, an eight-person hydraulic lift of glass and stainless-steel construction, and maple wood glazed screens and joinery to act as sub-division between public spaces and individual offices. Michael Bennett & Sons commenced construction of this 6,400 square feet project in April 2001 and the building was ready for occupation in March 2002.
