2003: FCJ Secondary School Classroom Block

Description

In November 2002, FCJ Secondary School in Bunclody appointed Michael Bennett & Sons to construct a new classroom block to replace the old dormitory building which was originally constructed in the 1860s. Work commenced in April 2003 with the demolition of the old building before construction proper could begin. The replacement building comprises a single-storey classroom block with a floor area of approximately 9500 square feet. Designed by Hayes Higgins Partnership, Kilkenny, the classroom block has a street-effect corridor and a central social area. The building is connected to the existing school building by means of a canopy.
