1997: Dept of Agriculture, Johnstown Castle

Description

The Department of Agriculture complex at Johnstown Castle, Co. Wexford is the result of a major Government decentralisation programme. Johnstown Castle is also the location of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Teagasc agricultural research facility. Bennett Tarmacadam was contracted by Pierse Contracting, the main contractor for the development of the new offices, to carry out surfacing on car parks and connecting roads. This included final grade preparation, 60mm of 20mm dense base course and 40mm of 14mm dense wearing course. The project involved a surface area of approximately 3,000 square metres and was completed in 1997. Please note that the above photos were taken in November 2003, approximately six years after the original work.
